また、World Art Dubaiに限らず、この機会を活用し世界の文化が混じり合うドバイで、日本の伝統文化とその新しい解釈を発信するパートナーの募集を開始しました。アートギャラリー、空間デザイン会社、ハイエンドのホテルやレストラン、インテリアデザイナーなどのパートナーと協業していきます。
World Art Dubaiのために作成した新たな作品の一部
■ World Art Dubaiとは
World Art Dubai（ワールドアートドバイ）は、中東最大規模のアートフェアで、60カ国から400以上のアーティストやギャラリーが4000点以上の作品を展示します。4日間で15,000以上のアートファンが訪れます。
MoMAやロンドンのテートモダンといった欧米の美術館からもキュレーターが多数視察に訪れております。また、王族が来場することでも世界的に注目を集めています。
世界中のアーティスト、ギャラリー、コレクター、アート愛好家が集まり、現代アートが集うプラットフォームとして機能しています。絵画、彫刻、写真、デジタルアート、ミックスメディア作品など、多様なアート作品が展示されます。
会場は国ごとで分かれており、基本的にアーティストの出身国でエリアが決まりますが、今回ikasuを代表するヨーロッパ出身のアーティスト岡本レーナは日本のエリアで日本を代表します。

■ ikasuとは
着物に第二の人生を。
日本の家庭には膨大な着物や帯が眠っていると言われています。しかしながら、着る機会もなく、お手入れが大変で保管スペースも必要なため、次世代に渡らず廃棄する家庭が増えています。ikasuは、着物や帯はただの服ではなく、持ち主の大切な思い出であり、着物作家の素敵な作品であり、日本の誇る伝統文化であるという考え方で、着物を生かしたいと強く思いながら作品制作に取り組んでおります。
着物は「着る芸術」とも言われており、日本の伝統的な技術で、一つ一つ手作業で、織り・染色・刺繍・装飾された一点ものの芸術品です。ikasuはその一点一点の作品が持つ、歴史、技術、文様、物語を受け継ぎ、尊重しながら、現代空間に似合うアート作品として生まれ変わらせます。
■ 課題解決
ikasuの取り組みは衣服の廃棄問題の解決にも寄与しており、SDGsの「12 つくる責任 つかう責任」を支援する役割を果たしています。着物や帯は裏地まで丁寧に加工し、「ゴミゼロ」、「廃棄着物ゼロ」を目指しています。

For World Art Dubai, they have created new works that convey the essence of kimono culture to the fullest. ■ About World Art Dubai
World Art Dubai is the largest art fair in the Middle East, showcasing over 4,000 works from more than 400 artists and galleries representing 60 countries. Over the course of four days, it attracts more than 15,000 art enthusiasts.
The fair also draws numerous curators from prestigious museums such as MoMA and Tate Modern in London for inspection. Additionally, the presence of UAE royal family further garners global attention.
It serves as a platform for artists, galleries, collectors, and art enthusiasts from around the world to converge, focusing on contemporary art. A wide range of art forms, including painting, sculpture, photography, digital art, and mixed media, are exhibited.
The venue is divided by country, with areas generally designated by the artists’ home countries. However, for this event, representing ikasu as a European artist, Lena Okamoto will represent Japan in the Japanese area.

“Second life for antique kimono”
It is said that there are vast numbers of kimonos and obis sleeping in Japanese households. However, due to the lack of opportunities to wear them, the difficulty of maintenance, and the need for storage space, more and more families are disposing of them rather than passing them on to the next generation. At ikasu, they strongly believe that kimonos and obis are not just garments; they are precious memories of their owners, beautiful works of art created by kimono artists, and proud elements of Japan’s traditional culture. With this mindset, ikasu is dedicated to creating artworks while cherishing the essence of kimonos.
Kimonos are often referred to as ‘wearable art.’ They are unique pieces of artwork crafted meticulously by hand using traditional Japanese techniques such as weaving, dyeing, embroidery, and decoration. ikasu inherits and respects the history, craftsmanship, patterns, and stories embodied in each individual piece, transforming them into art pieces that harmonize with modern spaces.
